Position: Consultant - SELCO Foundation

Background

SELCO Foundation is a not-for-profit working on building a holistic ecosystem for sustainable energy access. The organization supports the design and deployment of Climate Smart Solutions that improve livelihoods and health outcomes for underserved communities, while also engaging with key stakeholders such as governments, financial institutions, academia, and civil society to enable long-term sustainability.

To further strengthen these efforts, SELCO Foundation seeks to engage a consultant who will provide strategic guidance to the team in the Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR), mentor selected enterprises, support the onboarding of enterprises in new initiatives, and engage in research programs aligning to the needs of SELCO Foundation. This role will help bridge knowledge, research, and implementation, and deepen SELCO’s impact in the region and beyond

Scope of Work

The consultant will be engaged to undertake the following key responsibilities:
1. Advisor to SELCO Foundation team in BTR

  • Guide the BTR team on strategy, partnerships, and program implementation.
  • Support in building linkages with local institutions, government, and ecosystem actors.
  • Represent SELCO Foundation in regional platforms and dialogues.

2. Research Program

  • Design and conduct one research program every quarter on themes aligned with SELCO’s mission.
  • Involve students and academic partners in the process.
  • Share findings with SELCO and relevant stakeholders.

3. Mentorship of Enterprises

  • Mentor five enterprises supported by SELCO Foundation, guiding them on business strategy, technology adoption, operations, and sustainability.
  • Support the enterprises in scaling their solutions, with focus on local relevance, replicability, and social impact.

4. Support in Enterprise-Centric Initiatives

  • Share and promote information on new programs/initiatives within relevant networks.
  • Identify and shortlist potential enterprises for participation.
  • Support evaluation and due diligence, with inputs on business, financial, and technical aspects.

Time Commitment

The consultant will be engaged for 8–10 days per month.

Deliverables

Monthly report detailing activities, progress, and recommendations, structured in a day-wise format.
Quarterly research outputs with student participation.
Mentorship and evaluation documentation for enterprises.

Duration

The consultancy engagement will be for an initial period of 12 months, with the possibility of extension based on performance and mutual agreement.

Honorarium

The consultant will receive a monthly honorarium of Rs. 3500/Day.
