SELCO Foundation believes that there is a strong correlation between sustainable energy and inclusive development. Quality access to these basic needs and services can be catalysed via sustainable energy. SELCO believes that this helps bridge social and economic disparities.

SELCO Foundation seeks to inspire and implement socially, financially and environmentally inclusive solutions by improving access to sustainable energy. SELCO Foundation’s key objectives are:

Systematically identify diverse needs of the poor, understand and define the role of sustainable development, poverty alleviation and decentralized energy

Create and deploy innovative solutions that positively impact livelihoods, health, well-being and education towards alleviation of poverty

Innovations for people living in poverty have to be customised to their use cases keeping in mind current and future needs. In the context of the poor, adaptation and mitigation strategies need to be inter-linked. Strategies for adaptation- all those responses to climatic conditions that reduce vulnerability- is an integral and urgent part of overall poverty reduction strategies. Using the lens of Sustainable Energy, strategies for climate action and inclusive development can be delivered synergistically.
