Position Overview
SELCO Foundation is establishing a Central Project Monitoring & Market Facilitation Unit to strengthen the retail market ecosystem for Farmer Producer Organizations (FPOs). The Branding and Product Manager will play a pivotal role in scaling national-level market access for FPO products by collaborating with institutional buyers, retail chains, government procurement platforms, and private-sector markets.The position will work closely with the Ministry of Agriculture & Farmers Welfare, State Departments, CBBOs, retail partners, and FPOs to drive product aggregation, branding, quality standardisation, retail readiness, and sustained market access. The role requires strong experience in retail sales, channel development, FPO marketing, quality compliance, and multi-stakeholder engagement.
2. Key Responsibilities
A. Market Strategy & Sales Expansion
- Lead the national strategy for expanding FPO product presence across retail chains including NCCF Stores, NAFED Bazaars, Mother Dairy, cooperatives, supermarkets, and e-commerce platforms.
- Position and promote value-added products emerging from solar-powered processing solutions and climate-smart production models, ensuring buyers understand the sustainability advantages.
- Identify priority product categories, retail channels, and high-demand geographies for scale-up.
- Develop category-wise market entry frameworks for staples, value-added products, spices, horticulture, dairy, and niche farmer-based products.
- Formulate retail pricing models, supply schedules, and fulfilment mechanisms tailored to retail requirements.
B. Ecosystem & Partnership Development
- Build strong institutional linkages with retail bodies, procurement agencies, agribusiness corporates, and government-backed enterprises.
- Facilitate partnerships with HIL, NSC, NCCF, NAFED, Mother Dairy, and private retail chains for product onboarding.
- Collaborate with CBBOs, State Departments, and FPO leaders to align production with market demand.
- Co-create scalable retail-supply models with state and district partners to strengthen FPO-to-market pathways.
C. Programme Execution & Field Support
- Guide FPOs in meeting retail-readiness requirements including quality grading, sorting, packaging, barcoding, shelf-life management, and branding elements.
- Support FPOs with documentation and compliance for retail onboarding—FSSAI, GST, trade license, product testing, label compliance, etc.
- Conduct field visits to assess product quality, post-harvest handling, packaging units, and supply-chain readiness.
- Provide hands-on assistance to FPO CEOs and marketing teams on product positioning, standardisation, and promotional readiness.
D. Research, Innovation & Knowledge
- Develop market intelligence reports—pricing trends, consumer behaviour, competitor analysis, and product performance.
- Identify innovative marketing models, packaging solutions, and retail technologies suitable for FPOs.
- Create case studies, success stories, retail product portfolios, and best-practice guides for national dissemination.
- Support piloting of new product lines, branding concepts, and retail formats (e.g., farmer-branded kiosks, premium local products).
E. Sales Monitoring, Reporting & Impact
- Build dashboards for tracking sales volumes, retailer feedback, fulfilment gaps, and product performance.
- Prepare monthly and quarterly sales review reports for leadership and government partners.
- Monitor fulfilment operations—order processing, inventory, shelf placement, and returns.
- Coordinate audits, reviews, and performance evaluations with retail partners and government agencies.
F. Multi-Stakeholder Coordination
- Maintain continuous coordination with Ministry officials, SFAC, NABARD, NCDC, State Agriculture Departments, and retail procurement teams.
- Facilitate convergence with schemes related to marketing, input support, value addition, post-harvest management, and processing.
- Organize exhibitions, sampling events, retail promotions, and FPO product melas to boost visibility and sales.
- Serve as the primary liaison between FPOs, CBBOs, state units, and institutional buyers.
3. Required Qualifications & Experience
- 10-12 years of experience in FPO development, retail sales, marketing, supply chain, or agricultural value chains.
- Demonstrated experience enabling product sales through NCCF, NAFED, Mother Dairy, and organized retail networks.
- Strong knowledge of quality compliance, packaging standards, retail norms, and licensing processes (FSSAI, GST, etc.).
- Proven ability to coordinate with government agencies, CBBOs, and large-scale schemes like CSS–10K FPO, NFSM, VIUC.
- Experience in MIS, market analysis, data reporting, and field-level implementation.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and market facilitation skills.
- Ability to travel extensively across states.
