About SELCO Foundation and the incubation program

SELCO Foundation seeks to inspire and implement socially, financially, and environmentally inclusive solutions by improving access to sustainable energy. SELCO Foundation started an incubation program, aiming to bring sustainable energy solutions to address Employment challenges by promoting grassroot level, innovative and livelihood startups or enterprises. SELCO provided support, focusing on solar intervention, and nurturing the innovation from prototyping to scaling stage. 4 enterprises graduated from the Incubation program and 5 are in incubation and 1 is in pre-incubation right now.

SELCO Foundation’s key objectives are

  • Systematically identify diverse needs of the poor, understand, and define the role of sustainable development, poverty alleviation and decentralized energy.
  • Create and deploy innovative solutions that positively impact well-being, health, education, and livelihoods towards the alleviation of poverty
  • Foster the development of enabling conditions or an ecosystem through holistic thought processes in technology, finance, entrepreneurship, and policy.

Context

During our regulation interactions and assessment of the technology enterprises, we spotted the need for testing of Millet processing machines by Trans Farm. It must be noted that testing of machinery supports Agri machine manufacturers in delivering high-quality, high-performance, safe, and compliant products. It contributes to product optimization, innovation, market acceptance, and customer satisfaction, ultimately benefiting the manufacturers' business growth and success. Certification is given by ICAR-Central institute of Agricultural Engineering Regional Centre, Coimbatore. We propose to support M/s. Transfarm for testing the three machines namely multideck grader, Centrifugal Huller and Destoner for which will create traction in business. Since Transfarm does not have the facility to have the testing requirements which include 6-10 days' continuous running of machines at full capacity with different commodities. This needs uninterrupted power supply and availability of raw materials for testing we propose to identify an external vendor who can carry out the testing on behalf of M/s. Transfarm technologies.

Goal

Testing and certification for millet processing machines are essential to ensure safety, quality, compliance with regulations, customer confidence, and market access. They play a crucial role in protecting users, promoting fair trade, and maintaining industry standards.
