About the Role

SELCO Foundation is looking for a highly motivated individual who is passionate about working in the development sector with focus on providing access to sustainable energy and livelihoods for last mile communities in Meghalaya. The broader goal is to use decentralized renewable energy to facilitate dignified living, increased incomes, reduced drudgery and improved work productivity through the integration of climate inclusive technologies into livelihood practices for the underserved communities in Meghalaya.

The Technology co-ordinator is expected to scout, support and scale up sustainable energy access technologies and programs in order to enhance essential services under livelihoods. Understanding of Decentralized Renewable Energy (DRE) and its integration within productive use technologies will be primary while catering to the underserved communities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conducting site surveys in order to identify the technology need and demand of end users in Meghalaya. Training on site survey, field execution, implementation of projects considering the geography, terrain, accessibility etc in Meghalaya.
  • Conducting market research for existing technologies in Meghalaya through local channels as well as scouting for new technologies that are relevant in the context of Meghalaya considering local livelihoods, needs and demands.
  • Designing and recommending solar powered systems and providing the techno commercial feasibility study based on the site surveys.
  • Conducting the technical evaluation of the proposals, providing solar integrated technical designs for projects as required and preparing technical reports related to programs.
  • Work closely with the vendors / suppliers to develop mechanisms for post-installation operations, maintenance and troubleshooting.
  • Providing field-level coordination for the technology solution implementation of pilot projects designed under the various programs in Meghalaya.
  • Liaisoning between beneficiaries/end-users and vendors for material procurement, product customization and other purposes as required.
  • Coordinating with training institutes, science departments and other govt. agencies in Meghalaya to organize and facilitate technology training programs for farmers, community members and other relevant stakeholders.
  • Identifying and developing success stories under the programs as case studies for wider dissemination of DRE (Decentralized Renewable Energy) driven technology in Meghalaya.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 1 year of work experience in the Renewable Energy sector or in the Engineering -Technical and Technology background is preferred.
  • Based out of Meghalaya or experience working in Meghalaya with good understanding about grassroots communities, languages, livelihood practices etc. will be preferred.
  • Interest in solar energy DRE driven technologies and project implementations aimed at improving energy reliability and quality of life for underserved communities.
  • Very good communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Willingness to learn, grow and develop at personal and professional front, at a rapid pace with a steep learning curve.
  • Willingness to travel extensively within and outside the State as and when required.
