SELCO Foundation is an open source, not for profit organization that engages in field-based R&D and ecosystem building for deployment of clean energy solutions that alleviate poverty in tribal, rural and urban poor areas. The organization works in collaboration with practitioners in the social sector, energy entrepreneurs, NGOs from various developmental sectors and educational institutions to link the benefits of sustainable energy to poverty eradication. The Outreach and Communications team plays a crucial role in disseminating information about the foundation's initiatives and impact.

Job Description:

As an Information Designer at SELCO Foundation, you will be an integral part of the Outreach and Communications team, contributing to the creation of visually compelling content that effectively communicates our mission, values, and impact. You will collaborate with the teams to design materials for various platforms, ensuring a consistent and engaging visual identity for SELCO Foundation and its diverse audiences.

Responsibilities:

1. Data Visualization:

  • Design clear and impactful data visualizations to communicate complex information and research findings.
  • Transform statistical data, reports, and research into visually accessible graphics, charts, and infographics.

2. Content Creation:

  • Collaborate with subject matter experts to understand and visualize key messages for diverse stakeholders.
  • Develop visually appealing presentations, reports, and other materials for internal and external use.
  • Enhance the user experience of digital and print materials
  • Ensure that information is presented in an accessible and inclusive manner.

3. Visual Identity and Narrative:

  • Ensure consistency in visual communication by adhering to the organization's narratives and visual identity

4. Storytelling Through Design:

  • Work with all teams to translate impactful stories into visually engaging narratives.
  • Create multimedia content that effectively conveys the organization’s mission and impact.

5. Collaboration:

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including communications, research, and program teams, to gather information and insights for design projects.
  • Incorporate feedback from team members to refine and improve designs.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Design, Graphic Design, Data Visualization, or a related field.
  • Proven experience as an information designer with a portfolio showcasing successful design projects
  • Proficient in data visualization tools and graphic design software.
  • Excellent communication skills, both visual and verbal, to convey complex information effectively.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team and respond positively to feedback.
