SELCO Foundation has been established with the mission of achieving rural development and conservation of the environment by promoting the use of sustainable energy. SELCO Foundation, for the past twelve years has been working on field-based R&D work and has developed various models, and processes, in sectors of basic energy access, health, education, livelihoods, financial inclusion, and built environment which can be replicated and scaled up to bring in social inclusivity and equity in the nation.
We have launched a program called “Energy for Health” through which we will upgrade /augment the infrastructure of around 25,000 public health facilities across India. In order to align the upgradation to meet the Sustainable Development Growth (SDG), we will set up rooftop solar systems in every Health Centre. In the process we have already solar powered more than 1200 Public health facilities across different states in India.
We are seeking a qualified Insurance Providers/Agencies to provide Insurance for the Solar Systems which are already installed & going to install against the Launched Programme called “Energy for Health” across 12 states.
We have already solar powered more than 1400 Public health facilities across different states in India as said below,
1. Karnataka
2. Odisha
3. Meghalaya
4. Manipur
5. Nagaland
The objective of the project is to provide Insurance for the Solar Systems which are already installed in above 5 States & further which will be installed against the Launched Programme called “Energy for Health” across 12 states.
The Insurance Providers/Agencies should provide the insurance against below said calamities, The Solar components supplied to the health facilities should be fully insured against the loss or damage incidental to manufacture or acquisition.
1. Machinery Breakdown: Electrical & or machinery breakdown of any machinery or other equipment resulting in costly repairs or even replacement of the solar panel.
2. Property Damage: The insurance should cover material damage due to external causes such as fire, theft, vandalism, sabotage, hail damage, snow load, lightning strike, overload, operational mistakes, Natural Calamities, clumsiness, negligence & theft.
3. Employers Liability: Provides cover against the risk of accident from usual workplace risks such as working at height & manual handling during construction & O&M period.
4. Environmental Risk Insurance: Environmental damage coverage indemnifies solar system owners of the risk of either environmental damage done by their development or pre-existing damage on the development site.
5. Performance of System: Insurance for Solar PV Power Projects, and performance demonstration with associated equipment and materials along with Minimum 5 (Five) years comprehensive operation and maintenance from the date of Operational Acceptance
Insurance shall be provided for the complete solar system installed in particular terrain. Insurance Provider Shall provide the Costing for
1. One Time Insurance for 5 Years
2. Term Insurance on Yearly Basis.
3. The goods supplied under the Contract shall be fully insured against the loss or damage incidental to manufacture or acquisition

Interested Insurance Provider/Agency, with past experience (please include similar work as proof of experience) and based out of India are requested to reach out with a detailed proposal & Costing giving a brief on the process they will uptake for this project, including budgets (with break-ups and explanation), timelines and milestones and submit proposal in below said Google Form https://forms.gle/nXtXsX7fbsKdnpc26 on or before 21st July, 2023.
