About the Role

SELCO Foundation is looking for a highly motivated individual who is passionate about working in the development sector with focus on providing access to sustainable energy and livelihoods for last mile communities in Meghalaya. The broader goal is to use decentralized renewable energy to facilitate dignified living, increased incomes, reduced drudgery and improved work productivity through the integration of climate inclusive technologies into livelihood practices for the underserved communities in Meghalaya.

A Program Manager for the Meghalaya team, should have a good sectoral understanding, as well as proven experience in program design, execution and strategy, managing a cross-cultural team, developing and monitoring partnerships, coordinating between multiple stakeholders; who is able to adapt to diverse situations and organizational requirements.

The Program Manager is also expected to create a knowledge repository by drawing inferences and learnings from existing projects in order to inform larger program design and build on the sectoral narrative for Meghalaya.The role requires an approach which challenges the set paradigms and comes up with end to end solutions- employing resourcefulness in program design, implementation and monitoring problems. We seek individuals who understand grassroots realities while also being able to extract key learnings for the sector.

Key Responsibilities

  • Anchoring the various programs housed under the State plan for furthering Selco Foundation’s work in Meghalaya.
  • Identification, diagnosis, building rapport, coordinating and co-developing programs with key stakeholders such as local communities, government departments, enterprises, financial institutes, NGOs / grassroot organizations working in different parts of Meghalaya for effective implementation of SELCO’s work in Meghalaya.
  • Anchoring and delivering on new and innovative ways to communicate key learnings, concepts, processes, and approaches for improved uptake within the crucial ecosystem stakeholders in Meghalaya.
  • Identifying, nurturing and managing partnerships and developing long-term strategy plans with identified partners in Meghalaya with focus on SRLM, Financial Institutions etc.
  • Developing a robust strategy for outreach and communication of SELCOs work at a State and national level.
  • Uptake of Recommendations: Engaging actively with various networks, building partnerships with like-minded organizations and key decision-makers to push the recommendations forward through Government organizations, Ministries, Financial institutions, Donors/Investors, and so on. Initiating guideline changes, pilot projects, or implementations in accordance with recommendations.
  • Conducting regular team meetings, as well as program specific meetings to update all members on best practices and continued expectations.
  • Ensuring coordination with other central and regional teams within the organization for smooth implementation of SELCO’s ecosystem approach and for greater cross-learning.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 4 to 7 years of work experience in the development sector with focus on sustainable energy and livelihoods is preferable.
  • Based out of Meghalaya or experience working in Meghalaya with good understanding about grassroots communities, languages, livelihood practices etc. will be preferred.
  • Experience of supporting leadership and or management will be preferred.
  • Strong operational and leadership skills that reflect the ability to manage teams, programs, perform and prioritize multiple tasks seamlessly with excellent attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication skills (both verbal and non-verbal) along with good documentation skills.
  • Experience in connecting conceptual approaches and narratives with ground realities and understanding grassroots problems.
  • Demonstrating proactive approaches to problem-solving with strong decision making capability and ability to work in an interdisciplinary and multicultural environment.
  • Willingness to learn, grow and develop at personal and professional front, at a rapid pace with a steep learning curve.
  • Willingness to travel extensively in difficult terrains within and outside the State as and when required.
