SELCO Foundation, a not-for-profit, engages in field-based R&D and ecosystem building for development of decentralized renewable energy solutions that alleviate poverty in urban, rural, and tribal poor areas. Under the Animal Husbandry vertical we have been working on specific value chains such as Dairy, Poultry, Piggery, Fisheries and with other Animal Husbandry cooling as a solution cutting across AH VC. SELCO Foundation seeks to develop sustainable energy solutions across Animal Husbandry commodity specific value chains to improve, diversify farm incomes and reduce drudgery across practices and processes. Specifically, we are looking at clean and efficient technologies that bring about value among small marginal farmers and entrepreneurs, FPOs, FPC's, SHG and other stakeholders.

Designation: Program Fellow – Knowledge, Animal Husbandry Innovation
Reporting to: Program Manager, Central team
Years of Experience: 1 to 2
Location: Headquartered in Bangalore, Karnataka with pan India operations.
Travel: As required.
Work type: Work from office.
Working days and shifts: Monday to Saturday - 9:30 AM to 5:30 PM. (Bi-weekly Saturdays holiday)
Languages spoken: Kannada, English, Hindi.

About the position:

As a Program Fellow– Knowledge in the Animal Husbandry Innovation team, the candidate should have strong sectoral knowledge of Animal Husbandry-based livelihood systems, communication design, content development, research and documentation skills. He/she is expected to be entrepreneurial and adapt to varying situations and organizational requirements.

Key responsibilities:

  • To work closely with the Animal Husbandry Innovation programmatic and implementation team to keep abreast of the programs being implemented, to capture learnings in a timely manner.
  • Work with the data pieces of the Animal Husbandry Knowledge to Develop Innovation benchmarking decks and documentation to handover for Scale.
  • Support the team in developing program specific content, partner outreach and communication by capturing learnings through crisp documentation, engaging templates and analyzing information gathered from multiple sources for quantitative and qualitative briefs/reports
  • Assist, write, translate content for other organizational needs that may arise from time to time, including but not limited to reports, presentations, proposals.
  • Design engaging articles, curate reports, newsletters, website content, blogs, and edit/refine existing content to improve readability & increase communication engagement for programs and partners to inform the sector on the team’s key learnings in Innovation
  • Coordination with partner organizations, end users, field coordinators, consultants and myriad other stakeholders to gather qualitative, quantitative data and information for required documentation.
  • Conduct quick research to substantiate documentation and to be able to develop research pitches for larger documents and papers.
  • Derive meaningful relationships in the existing documentation and data sets to draw meaningful (communication design) insights

Desirable Profile:

  • Minimum 1-2 years of experience in Development – Animal Husbandry sector
  • Education background in Animal Husbandry, Mass Communication/Journalism, Development Studies, MSW
  • Strong communication skills, both written and oral
  • Strong networking capabilities and demonstrated interpersonal and communication skills suitable for collaborating with multiple stakeholders
  • Ability to process information and create compelling documentation- reports, impact analysis and case studies analysis for the sector
  • Experience in working with a large amount of content and data and developing user friendly documents
  • Ability to conduct quantitative and qualitative analysis
  • Proficiency in using Microsoft Office- Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to perform field-assessments, on-site evaluations and producing comprehensive reports
  • Willingness to learn, grow and develop at personal and professional front, at a rapid pace with a steep learning curve
  • Ability to work in an interdisciplinary and multicultural environment
  • Willingness to travel for 2-5 days in a month
