An initiative of SELCO Foundation and Village Empowerment Global SDG7 Hubs is a practitioner driven, knowledge exchange and implementation platform to improve inclusive development outcomes in the Global South via sustainable energy (SDG7) as a critical catalyst, particularly for underserved populations.
Global SDG7 Hubs functions as an umbrella organization for creating, supporting multiple regional hubs by working with partners to contextualize solutions according to local needs. The 4 regional hubs being East Africa (Tanzania) Hub, West Africa (Sierra Leone) Hub, Horn of Africa (Ethiopia) Hub, South Asia (Philippines) Hub. The world is plagued by 2 impending issues namely climate change and economic inequalities which undermine the efforts of communities to come out of cyclic poverty. The main objective of the Global SDG7 platform is to identify and nurture the capacities of local SDG 7 driven enterprises to develop last mile energy solutions for improving livelihoods and health of underserved communities. The initiative focuses on facilitating productive transfer of knowledge and strengthening local Sub-Saharan ecosystems which can catalyze the delivery of these DRE solutions through a strong local network of champions.
