The SELCO Foundation plans to have a quality and safety check of installed Solar DRE systems in public health facilities throughout Karnataka. The process should be, by visiting the health facilities physically and filling prerequisite check list and recording all other issues/suggestions/feedback taken from the health facility staff along with observations made.

Vision health remains a critical challenge in Karnataka, with a prevalence of treatable blindness at 6.6%, highlighting the need for accessible and efficient eye care services. Bilateral cataracts are the leading cause, affecting 78.7% of the blind, while only 12.1% of those in need have undergone cataract surgery. The National Family Health Survey (2021) further revealed that 37% of Karnataka's population experiences some form of vision-related health issue, underscoring the widespread impact on quality of life and productivity.

VDVKs function as community-managed centres facilitating the collection, processing, and marketing of NTFPs. Despite their potential, they face several challenges, including inadequate infrastructure, limited technology adoption, financial constraints, and weak market linkages. This study aims to evaluate the structure and functioning of VDVKs and identify ways SELCO Foundation’s climate smart solutions can integrate with these centres to enhance their operational capacity and impact on PVTGs and other tribal/ forest dwelling communities.

The program seeks to develop business models for the listed types and the related documents for financial institutions which shows financial feasibility for support for the adoption of such technologies for farmers, develop a toolkit for assessing the performance of existing cold storages and evaluate the new proposals also intends to develop a training module for enhancing cold storage utilization, it involves changing the framework in the sites to make the existing cold storage is viable by replicating the successful models.
