Traditional livelihoods still use manual methods which are highly drudgery prone. A lot of these livelihood activities require mechanisation which are either not available or accessible. Furthermore these livelihoods are practiced in areas where energy may be sporadic or completely absent. Even if technologies are available and mechanisation in the particular livelihood is already a practice, machines may be suited to large, centralised models where volumes are high rather than smaller decentralised; models making access limited.

Premise

Solar powered productive use appliances and machines, if made affordable suited to the need & required scale of operations and easily available to communities, can enable asset ownership which can democratise livelihoods in a self-sustainable manner.
