Abstract:

This doc highlights the importance of climate-resilient Module Mounting Structures (MMS) for rooftop solar systems, particularly in cyclone- and high-wind-prone regions. Drawing from learnings across 10,000+ rooftop solar installations under SELCO Foundation’s Energy for Health programme, it outlines a risk-first approach that integrates structural roof assessment, hazard mapping, and resilient MMS design. The document presents practical solutions such as low-elevation mounting, optimal tilt, multi-point clamping, wind deflectors, secure anchoring, ballast reinforcement, and corrosion-resistant materials to improve safety, performance, and longevity of solar installations in vulnerable geographies.
